How Wedding Rings Or Bands Work

How Wedding Rings Or Bands Work

Do you want to know how wedding rings work?

This is how wedding rings work:

The circle, without beginning or end, symbolizes eternity, while the central hole represents a door, that is, the link between the couple.

The exchange of rings during a wedding ceremony symbolizes the couple’s commitment to each other and their promise to love and cherish one another for a lifetime.

I didn’t know how wedding rings work when I married my wife ten years ago.

We just bought the rings from our jewellery store, took it to the officiating minister on our wedding day, we exchanged vows and wore it.

After many years of marriage, I realised that wedding rings symbolise many things in marriage.

In this article, I will share with you how wedding rings work in different ways.

Let’s go on now.

Wearing a wedding ring is a symbol of love and commitment between two people who are married.

It reminds the couple about their commitment to each other.

It is a visible sign that someone is married. This helps to prevent unwanted attractions from the opposite sex.

Which Goes First Engagement And Wedding Ring

Engagement ring goes first before the wedding ring.

The engagement ring is the one that is delivered at the same time that you ask your partner the big question: “Will you marry me?”

What is the engagement ring?

The engagement ring is a ring given by a man(boyfriend) to a girl(girlfriend) when she accepts to marry him.

It is given as a gift in the request for a hand in marriage, a formal act in which the intention of getting married is formalized before the families of the engaged partner.

The engagement ring becomes the jewel that definitively marks the path to marriage.

A ring that represents the commitment that two people are willing to start a life together.

The engagement ring is placed on the ring finger of the right hand, until the wedding day, when it is transferred to the left ring finger.

When wondering what order the engagement and wedding rings go in, the protocol indicates that the engagement ring goes first and then the wedding ring.

How Wedding Ring Should Fit

The wedding ring should fit comfortably on the finger, comfortable enough not to fall off and loose enough to slide over the knuckle.

Make sure to take the correct measurement of your ring finger, this will help you to get the right size that will fit in well.

Although the measurements of rings can vary depending on the country, there are other tools that jewelry stores use to identify the size.

Among the most used are:

1. Gauge with rings

It is a tool that has rings of different sizes or measurements, the idea is to place one by one on the finger to find the most suitable ring size.

This gauge is often used in conjunction with the chuck.

2. Measure with a chuck

In the same way, you can resort to a jeweler in the city with a ring to take the measurement with a mandrel; a plastic or metal rod  that contains all the international measurements along its length and width.

3. Paper meter

It is a strip of paper that is used to take the measurement of the finger, for this it is covered by marking a line right in the place where each end of the strip meets, then the distance between the two is quantified (with a meter of sewing or something more sophisticated like a caliper caliper).

Once you have this number you can take it to the jewelry store where they have a guide or table with the size of  rings in cm and/or mm.

By this way you can also start discovering the engagement ring price ranges.

Take into account the time of year in which the measurement is taken, since it has been shown that, during the hot season, the fingers tend to swell a little and with the cold the opposite occurs.

Try to take the measurement preferably in the evening, that is, at the end of the day since at this time the body heat is usually regulated and the fingers are warmer.

Finally, it is important that you keep in mind that the fingers of the dominant hand (The hand you frequently use) are usually thicker or larger.

Jewellery stores recommend repeating the measurement 3-4 times to minimize erroneous results.

How Wedding Rings Are Made

The material most commonly used to make  wedding rings is 18-carat (yellow) gold.

However, rings can also be made from platinum, white gold and other metals.

How wedding rings are made – step by step

1. Design the sketch

The manufacturing process begins with a moment of inspiration, an idea that must be shaped.

2. Choose the metal

The first step in creating a wedding ring is choosing the metal.

The designer will use the material indicated in the sketch.

But in the case that it is a custom wedding ring, the choice of metal will remain in the hands of the clients.

The most common is that the rings are made of white gold or yellow gold .

3. Melt

Once the jeweler has the material, he will proceed to melt it manually until it reaches the liquid state.

He will carefully pour it into an ingot-shaped mold. Next, the gold must be allowed to cool in order for it to solidify.

4. Mold

We already have the ingot in the form of gold. It is now when the artisan is really used to the fullest.

The ingot must be carefully shaped until it achieves the desired thickness and width.

5. Give it shape

The wedding ring requires the use of various tools such as files, saws, and grinders to shape it to the desired thickness and width.

Once ready, it is polished to give it a specific, careful and pure finish.

How Wedding Rings Are Worn

Traditionally, wedding rings are worn on the left hand, always on the ring finger (The fourth finger from the thumb), due to an ancient belief that this finger is directly connected to the heart by a valve. Most people call this valve the vein of love .

When to start using wedding ring

If the couple gets married only in a civil ceremony, from that precise moment they can start wearing the wedding ring on their left hand (On the ring finger).

However, most couples prefer to wait until the religious ceremony is done to start wearing their wedding rings. It is not a fixed rule.

Some couples wear it on the right hand from the civil marriage and change it to the left once married by the Church.

How Wedding Registry Works

A wedding registry is a list of specific items or products that a couple wishes to receive as gifts for their wedding.

These gifts can range from appliances, furniture, tableware, household items, wines, jewelry, etc.

This list must be compiled by the couple, who must specify the quantity, price and description of the items they wish to receive.

The marriage registry also allows gift givers the option of purchasing a gift and having it shipped directly to the address specified in the registry.

Couples can create their wedding registries at specialty stores, online, or through a variety of wedding service providers.

Once the list of items is complete, the couple must officially announce to their guests that there is a wedding registry.

This can be done in a number of ways, such as on a wedding invitation, wedding website, gift card, wedding guest list, etc.

Guests can browse the list of items and choose the gift they want to send to the couple.

Once the guests have selected the gift of their choice, the couple can check their online wedding registry to see the gifts received.

This allows them to know who has sent them what gift and when.

This information can be used to send a thank you note to each person who has gifted the couple.

Once all the gifts have been delivered, the couple can close the marriage registry and take advantage of their gifts.

Wedding gifts can be paid for in two ways: guests can purchase the item and then give it to the couple, or they can transfer money directly to the couple’s account.

The list can be updated at any time and guests can choose to purchase items not previously selected on the wedding registry.

The wedding registry can be a useful tool to help the couple prepare for their new married life.

Wedding guests can check the wedding registry for items desired by the couple.

This information can be found online, making it easy for guests to select gifts.

How Wedding Vows Work

Wedding vows are the promises with which the commitment is sealed at the wedding ceremony.

They represent the will to be united, not only because of the rings, but also in respect and love, even in the most adverse circumstances.

Remember that you are speaking to your sweetheart, therefore there is nothing to fear, because beautiful emotions and sensations will appear for that occasion.

So, pause where necessary as you read the vow promises, breathe, take your time and look into each other’s eyes pronouncing each word from your deepest feelings.

And most importantly, let everything flow!

Here some examples of original wedding vows:

1. “I promise you that I want to travel the world with you and that we will travel as much as we can.”

2. “On Sundays I will cook, but only if you later let me see those movies that I like so much.”

3. “I promise that we will never go to bed angry and I will do everything I can to always make you happy.”

4. “I promise not to occupy your side of the closet and invade your space.”

5. “I promise to watch football (at least those of your team) even if it bores me royally.”

6. “I promise to love you with your flaws, your hobbies and those little things that drive me crazy but that I adore.”

How Wedding Cakes Are Made

Paying a large sum of money for a wedding cake may seem outrageous.

But what are the alternatives, especially when you don’t have any confectioners in your family?

Making a wedding cake is not as difficult as you might think.

Significant planning and effort is required, so be sure to carefully weigh the expense of a cake when making your final decisions.

And if cake isn’t your thing, you can always serve ice cream, or even an ice cream bar at your wedding.

When you’re ready, first assemble all the tools you’ll need.

Be sure to check the recipe and read it completely to see if there are any tools besides these:

1. All the ingredients for baking and frosting the wedding cake

2. Craft stores and baking supply stores offer cake pans that come in sizes of 12″, 9″, and 6″, with a height of 3″.

3. Parchment paper to line the pans

4. Large serrated knife

5. Cardboard cake boards available at bakeries and craft stores in 12″, 9″, and 6″

6. 10 non-flexible straws

7. Offset spatula

8. A fountain to serve the wedding cake

9. To add decoration, a round tipped piping bag between size 3 and 7 for edging, and a toothpick for tracing

10. Decorations like fresh flowers, cake toppers, etc.

Decoration and storage

Think ahead about how you want to decorate your cake, and practice piping or frosting ahead of time.

You can easily make additional icing and practice shapes on test cakes or even silicone mats.

Make decorative items long before the wedding.

If you are going to use fresh flowers, be sure to order exactly what you want from a florist.

As a final step, you may need to remove a shelf from the refrigerator to make room for the cake.

You’ll also need to arrange for transportation of the cake to the wedding venue.

Talk to the caterer or venue manager about cake transportation and refrigeration details at the event.
